Breast Cancer Awareness

Here's what I have been working on for a few days. It is my entry for the Melissa Francis' Altered Bra Contest. The other entries are all so beautiful. I only hope I have a chance to contend!

I have decided that I am going to give it to my mother in law, Joan, for her 6th year aniversary of being cancer free!

First Crop!

Well, folks, I did it! I attended my first crop Saturday. It was at a friend's church and we were really just looking for an excuse to get together away from other's wants and needs of us. I loved being able to give my full concentration to creating layouts and getting some of those pictures, that I set aside long ago, into a book! Here's a few of the successes of the day...

I have a few more pages that I will post tomorrow. I need to ad a few embellies before I deem them finished. :) Being that I had not done this before, I found myself scrambling to find ways to make everything portable. And, hoping I didn't forget anything. Which I ALWAYS do, no matter what I am doing. I should have made a list. lol

Butterflies

Well, I was just looking through my new Redbook magazine and turned the page and found this! All of these cute butterflies just popped out of the book and started flying around. The butterflies are attached to sprial cut acetate. No glueing except where the acetate meets the paper. I don't know if you have seen this add yet, but it was my first time to see this eye catching add for Fruit of the Loom underwear! Yep, all of the butterflies' wings are made out of underwear!!! So dang cute and ingenious! I am going to have to figure out a way to do this in a greeting card! Without the underwear, of course!

Little Miss Fright

I came across this picture and it had to be scrapped! This was Lauren's first 'Trick or Treat' and she confirmed that she was a 'good witch' several times before we left the house. ;o) We only visited three neighbors that night which were people that we know on our block. She would NOT go to anyone elses door. After the first house, she discovered that she would get candy in her bucket so she was easily persuaded to knock on a few more doors. Our target was my Uncle's house where he and my Grandmother were waiting for Lauren to knock and say the wicked phrase. This was, of course, where this picture was taken. Lauren was so proud of her stash!

Boo Crew

I did manage to put together a layout yesterday that I had kind of been working on already. I really like the way it turned out. I did, finally, manage to purchase (50% off) an embossing heat tool and tried it out on this project.

Angel

My sweet angel girl! This is a very simple layout that only took a few minutes. Didn't think I could do this! lol I did have to crop the picture down a little on the top and bottom. This is one of my favorite posed pics of my Angel Baby. :)

BOO!

I know the title is revelational! lol I just HAD to jump into my Halloween collection and create Something. So this little card was the perfect thing to satisfy my itch! Didn't really do anything too fancy, but it sure was fun playing around w/all of the spooky stuff of this season.

Stuff: Best Occasions card stock, Target $1 halloween scrap paper pack and glitter font, dictionary flower cut out w/Cricut, Best Occasions yellow & white flowers, K&co owl. The spider I just added Glossy Accents, and then added the spiral paper clip. :)

Another Card

This one was so fun to b/c I am learning some creative ways to use pieces of the different die cuts on my Cricut cartridges. I used a small piece of wire for the ring and part of the watering can die cut from the Walk in My Garden cartridge. The circle and deco edge background are both from the Accent Essentials cartridge. Glossing Accents on the white polkadots then added a bit of glitter. Then some felt letters top it off!

Christmas Already?

Christmas Already?
Ok, I am having a little bit of a hard time getting in the CHRISTMAS mood since it is still 90+ degrees here! We just had a little rain this morning so hopefully it will cool off (which most of the time our cool fronts only bring it down like 5 degrees!). So I answered a challenge over at Creative Journey (http://creativejourney.typepad.com/creative_journey/) to make a Christmas card to help me get in the mood.

The items I used:

green cardstock: Best Occasions
pink zebra stripe background: Glitz designs
multi-color lined paper: the Paper Studio
pink grid paper: the Paper Studio
Christmas tree paper: the Paper Studio
scalloped circles were cut out on Cricut
I cut the Christmas tree out using my Martha Stewart circle cutter. (love that thing!)
I used Glossy Accents on the pink dots and then applied pink sugar glitter.
Then, I applied Glossy Accents to the Christmas tree.

It's a simple design, but I love the way it turned out. Let me know what you think.

My favorite Card

This is my entry for 'my favorite card' on the Mara-May blog b/c I made it for my awesome Momma! I used my Cricut for the font and blue heart, Clear Stamps by Autum Leaves for the flourishes, MM ribbon, a bit of bling, and some metal heart buttons. Anyway...I really like it, but I haven't made many cards (.....yet). :)

Had a hard time getting a clear pic. of this b/c of lighting. I finally got a few good ones, but if you have any suggestions for how to get the right lighting for cards and scrapbook layouts let me know. Thanks a bunch!

In the ZONE and Party

Been feeling a little creatively challenged this week. Looking at all of the wonderful blogs out there inspired this layout. It just kind-of came together. I have noticed a lot of circles and scalloped circles in some of the blogs I have been following and that is one element that I really wanted to use in the lo. I used Glossy Accents on black cardstock for the word ZONE for the first time and it did curl at first, but I really like the leathery look it gave the letters. I will use a heavier card stock when recreating this look in the future. Thanks for visiting and I love reading your wonderful comments!!! Enjoy! ~Cheri
